Ray represents Canada with U18 Men’s National Softball Team

Rayn Ray from Saskatoon has joined the Canadian softball team at the U18 Men’s National Team in Hermosillo, Mexico for the softball World Cup.

Playing within Group A, the Canadian team opened the event with a game against the Czech Republic winning 5-2 and dominated their second game against Singapore 18-1. Canada broke their winning streak against Mexico, losing 10-3. Canada is set to play Columbia in their next game.

Ray and Canada qualified for the World Cup in September, after winning bronze at the WBSC Americas Pan American Championship.

Regina to host 2024 Petro-Canada Sport Leadership sportif conference

The Coaching Association of Canada has announced Regina as the host for the 2024 Petro-Canada Sport Leadership sportif conference from November 14 to 15, at the Regina Exhibition Association Limited.

The conference is the largest one held in Canada for coaches, sport executives, researchers and administrators. It will aim to address professional development, best practices and networking, in an attempt to stay up to date on the dynamic landscape of the sporting community.

Team Sask wins gold in hometown at Canadian Mixed Curling Championship

Team Saskatchewan claimed gold at the Canadian Mixed Curling Championship after dominating 11 straight games in their hometown, Swift Current.

Swift Current Curling Club’s skip Shaun Meachem, vice-skip Kelly Schafer, second Chris Haichert and lead Teejay Haichert lost their first draw but came back strong in each of their following. Team Saskatchewan won their second draw against Prince Edward Island to begin their winning streak.

Their gold medal win has qualified the team to represent Canada at the 2024 World Mixed Curling Championships in Scotland.

Wiens’ success at Santiago wins Athlete of the Month honours

Rylan Wiens brought Canada an international silver medal at 2023 Santiago Pan American Games, an achievement that has earned him Sask Sport’s October Athlete of the Month honours.

Kozun, Canada starts strong at 2023 WPV Sitting Volleyball World Cup

Melfort’s Julie Kozun is at the 2023 WPV Sitting Volleyball World Cup in Cairo, Egypt with Team Canada.

Kozun and the Canadian women’s team beat Brazil 3-1 (15-25, 25-21, 25-22, 25-20) in their first game, having a comeback after losing the first set.

Currently ranked second in the world, the event acts a qualifier for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. The ticket to Paris 2024 will be awarded to the highest ranked team that has not already secured their place in the Paralympics.

The 2023 Para Pan American Games start this week in Santiago, Chile. Stay caught up with Team Canada by following the event updates.
