McKnight named to Team Canada

Water Polo Canada named Regina’s Brody McKnight to the men’s national team for the 2025 World Aquatics Championships, July 11-August 3, in Singapore.

Team Canada will compete in Group C against the United States, Brazil and Singapore.

Canada shines in bronze

Team Canada wrapped their time at the FIBA women’s 3×3 basketball World Cup in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia with a third-place finish after defeating Poland 21-9.

Paige Crozon of Humboldt, with teammates Cassandra Brown, Saicha Grant-Allen and Kacie Bosch went 2-2 in pool play to earn a spot in quarterfinals.

Canada narrowly took the 11-10 win over Spain in that game before falling 21-15 against the Netherlands in the semifinals to play for bronze.

Bronze for Canada’s U19 women’s volleyball team

Saskatoon’s Abby Wasutyk joined Lloydminster’s Emerson Matthews in representing Canada for the U19 Girls’ Pan American Cup in Kingston, Ontario.

Canada went 2-0 in round robin action before falling 3-2 (25-19, 19-25, 26-24, 16-25, 10-15) against Mexico in semifinals.

Team Canada earned bronze after once again breaking the tie 3-2 (25-22, 25-18, 18-25, 19-25, 15-10) against Dominican Republic.

Three Saskatchewan speed skaters named to Canadian roster

Speed Skating Canada has announced the long track skaters who will represent its national team and training partners for the 2025-26 season, including three athletes from Saskatchewan.

Graeme Fish who hails from Moose Jaw will join 13 others on the national team. Meanwhile, Saskatoon’s Luca Veeman and Moose Jaw’s Marc-André Doyon will join as training partners.

Newman, Griffin join Canada for Softball World Cup

From June 27 to July 3, Regina’s Kenzie Newman will be representing Team Canada at the WBSC U15 Women’s Softball World Cup in Milan, Italy.

Canada had a mixed start to the championship, going 2-3 in round robin play before defeating the host team 9-0 in the first of three placement rounds.

The red and white are set to play American Somoa on July 3.

White City’s Claire Griffin is attending as an alternate.
