Four Saskatchewan divers compete at nationals

Four Saskatchewan divers competed from May 23-25, at the 2025 Summer National Championships in Saskatoon.

Margo Erlam, who trains out of Saskatoon, finished top of the podium after dominating the 3-metre springboard finals with a 336.70 score. The results qualified her a spot to represent Canada at the World Championships, hosted by Singapore this July.

Regina’s Lila Stewart finished ninth in the women’s 3-m preliminary event with 245.70 points and did not advance to finals.

Meanwhile, Rylan Wiens of Pike Lake finished third in the men’s open platform preliminary event with 409.24 points and Kash Tarasoff of Saskatoon finished fourth with 403.70 points.

Schenn, Canada conclude time at 2025 IIHF World Championship

Team Canada and Brayden Schenn, of Saskatoon, wrapped their time at the 2025 IIHF World Championships in Stockholm, Sweden and Herning, Denmark.

In back-to-back games against host teams, Canada defeated Sweden 5-3, before falling 2-1 against Denmark in quarterfinal action.

Pletz named to National Development Team

Biathlon Canada announced Regina’s Logan Pletz to the National Development Team roster for the 2025–2026 season.  

The National Development Team will collaborate with the Senior National Team to elevate both teams’ performance levels.

Schoenhofen to join Team Canada

Lauren Schoenhofen, who hails from Regina, was named to the Junior National Team by Ringette Canada.

Schoenhofen and 19 others will represent the nation at the 2025 World Ringette Championships, set to take place from Nov. 3-9 in Lahti, Finland.

In addition, Donnell Schoenhofen of Regina will join Team Canada as assistant coach.

Three Sask wheelchair basketball players join National Team training camp

Three Saskatchewan wheelchair basketball players are set to join the National Team training camp from May 26-29 in Oshawa, Ontario.

Garrett Ostepchuk (Regina), Kyrell Sopotyk (Aberdeen) and Branden Troutman (Lloydminister) will join 31 other athletes in the four-day camp, which will prioritize training to achieve consistent podium placements at international competitions.
