Hebert, Canada start strong at World Men’s Curling Championship 

Moose Jaw is hosting the BKT World Men’s Curling Championship from March 29 – April 6, with Regina-born lead, Ben Hebert joining Team Canada. 

Hebert with teammates, Brad Jacobs (skip), Marc Kennedy (vice-skip), Brett Gallant (second) and Tyler Tardi (alternate) started strong claiming three back-to-back wins over Japan, Germany and Korea, before falling 6-5 to Scotland. 

Tuesday morning, Canada made a comeback, claiming an 8-6 victory over Sweden and will look ahead to their next match against Italy.

Canada fourth at U15 Women’s Pan American Championship 

Regina’s Kenzie Newman wrapped her time in Mexico for the U15 Women’s Pan American Championship, with Canada finishing in fourth place. 

With a 4-3 record, Canada qualified for the bronze medal game against Puerto Rico but was defeated 4-0. 

Team Canada’s results were good enough to secure a spot at the U15 Women’s Softball World Cup, set to take place June 27 – July 5, in Italy. 

Grant to Improve Equipment Access for Canadian Para Athletes 

The Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Sport Institute Network, the Canadian Paralympic Committee and Red Deer Polytechnic received a major grant to support a national project aimed at improving access to safe, high-quality and better-fitting sport equipment for Canadian Para athletes. 

The project, titled Increasing accessibility to specialized parasport equipment across Canada through advanced design and manufacturing, is valued at approximately $860,000 over three years.
