Tristan Moran follows his arrow to join Team Canada at Santiago in archery

Tristan Moran of Prince Albert was announced as part of Canada’s Santiago 2023 archery team, competing in the compound category from November 1-5 at the Centro de Tiro con Arco.

This will be Moran’s first time attending a Pan American Games, but he is no newcomer to major competition as he claimed a medal at the 2017 Youth World Championships. Santiago will be another opportunity for Moran to claim a spot on the podium and for Team Canada to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Canada’s women’s rugby two-match series comes to end

Regina’s Gabrielle Senft joined Team Canada in the two-match series in London, which came to end an on Sept. 30.

Canada was defeated 29-12 by the Red Roses (England) but played to their abilities until the final moments and scored a try in the closing ten minutes.

Team Canada will look forward to the first edition of a new three-tier annual women’s international 15s competition on Oct. 21, in New Zealand.

McDowell and McKnight set to make a big splash in water polo at Santiago 2023

Water Polo Canada announced Blaire McDowell and Brody McKnight, two Regina athletes, will join the women’s and men’s teams, respectively, for the Santiago 2023 Pan America Games from Oct. 20 to Nov. 4 at the Parque Deportivo Estadio Nacional.

Santiago is the second opportunity for Team Canada to qualify for Paris 2024, with one chance remaining after the Games conclude. The men’s and women’s teams will need to receive a gold medal to qualify for Paris.

Norsten announced as part of Team Canada’s rugby sevens for Santiago

Carissa Norsten from Waldheim, will be traveling to Santiago with Canada’s women’s rugby sevens team for the 2023 Pan American Games from Nov. 3-4.

Santiago 2023 marks the return for Canada’s sevens teams, last joining together to compete in August. The women’s team has already earned their ticket to Paris for the 2024 Olympic Games — winning gold at the Rugby Americas North Sevens tournament — and the men’s team will have a final chance to qualify at the Final Olympic Repechage Tournament.
