Chartrand wins silver with Canada’s Women’s National Softball Team

Weyburn’s Jorde Chartrand and Canada’s Women’s National Softball Team finished in second place at the 2022 World Baseball Softball Confederation Americas Women’s Pan American Championship in Guatemala City.

Despite the 12-1 loss to the United States in the final, Canada has still qualified for the WBCS Women’s Softball World Cup. Chartrand, who had several successful relief pitching appearances in this tournament, was previously named the top U16 Canadian pitcher in 2019. She competed for Canada in the 2022 Celebration Tour as well as the Canada Cup International Softball Championship.

Clark, Canada take on USA in Rivalry Series

Saskatoon’s Emily Clark and Team Canada’s women’s hockey team have dropped the first three games of the 2022-23 Rivalry Series against the United States.

Clark scored in the opening game last Tuesday in Kelowna, BC, but it was the United States coming out on top with a 4-3 shootout win. The Americans followed that up with a 2-1 regulation win on Thursday in Kamloops and a 4-2 win on Sunday in Seattle.

The two teams will face each other again on Dec. 15 and Dec. 19 in Henderson, Nev. And Los Angeles, Calif. to wrap up the series.

Metheral at the Trampoline Gymnastics World Championships

Regina gymnast Hannah Metheral competed for Team Canada at the FIG Trampoline Gymnastics World Championships in Bulgaria in the women’s double mini trampoline event.

In the qualification, Metheral scored 25.2 and 22.8 on her jumps, and 24.8 in the final, which put her 15th overall. In the team event, Metheral and her teammates finished in fifth.

Fish brings homes another top-10 finish

Moose Jaw’s Graeme Fish once again finished in the top 10 at the ISU World Cup Speed Skating in Heerenveen, Netherlands.

In the men’s 5000-metre event, Fish was the top Canadian finisher, putting up a time of 6:17:29, which put him in 9th place.
