Clark joins Canada in Rivalry Series

Saskatoon’s Emily Clark was announced as part of the 24-player roster to represent Canada’s National Women’s Team for the three game 2023-24 Rivalry Series, from February 7 to 11.

The series’ first game since December will be held in Saskatoon on Feb. 7, with Regina playing host on Feb. 9, before the series makes its last stop in Minnesota on Feb. 11.

McMorris breaks Winter X Games record

Regina born, Mark McMorris, broke the record for most Winter X Games medals after winning his 23rd in Aspen at the 2024 Winter X Games, held from January 26 to 28.

McMorris placed second on the podium in the men’s slopestyle event, earning 95.33 points in his first run and 40.33 in his second.

Hudak wins silver and bronze at Para Nordic World Cup

It was a double-medal performance for Prince Albert’s Brittany Hudak at the first stop of the Para Nordic World Cup season in Toblach, Italy last week.

Competing in the women’s 10-kilometre standing ski event and the 10-km classic mass start, the Prince Albert resident captured silver and bronze, respectively.

The Canadian team will remain in Toblach for two more World Cup events before heading to Martell, Italy.

Paralympic Performance Recognition Program

The Paralympic Performance Recognition Program will now allow Canadian Paralympians to receive the same financial reward given to Olympians when they reach the podium. The medals are worth various amounts starting with gold at $20,000, silver at $15,000 and bronze worth $10,000.   

The new program will be in place for 2024 Paris Paralympic Games.
