Saskatchewan’s time is up at Scotties Tournament of Hearts

Saskatchewan’s Team Nacy Martin wrapped their time at the 2025 Scotties Tournament of Hearts, finishing fourth in their pool.

Round robin play ended on a high for skip Nacy Martin, lead Deanna Doig, second Kadriana Lott, third Chaelynn Stewart and alternate Colleen Ackerman, taking the 7-4 win over Nunavut, before edging Alberta’s Team Sturmay to a 9-8 loss.

Even after Saskatchewan’s last effort, their 5-3 record was not enough to qualify them for playoffs due to other teams holding a tiebreaker advantage after beating Team Martin in pool play.

Norsten, Canada play on Canadian soil

Canada played in front of a home crowd in Vancouver for the fourth stop of the 2025 HSBC SVNS series, finishing with mixed results.

Waldheim’s Carissa Norsten joined the team for their 2-1 round robin before falling 34-12 against New Zealand in quarterfinals. Canada and the United States faced off for seventh place, with the Canadian’s dominating 27-10.

Following results at the fourth stop, Canada sits sixth in the standings.

Stewart, Tarasoff at Junior National Team Trials 

Two Saskatchewan divers stood on the podium at the Junior National Team Trials which took place Feb. 13-16, in Toronto.

Regina’s Lila Stewart claimed her first gold of the season in the 3-metre springboard event, finishing with 537.55 points.

Meanwhile, Kash Tarasoff of Saskatoon dove to silver with 530.60 points in the 10-metre platform event.  

Both Stewart and Tarasoff’s results qualified them for a spot at the International Youth Diving Meet, which will take place April 23-27 in Dresden, Germany.
