Goncin, Ostepchuk named to Canada Wheelchair Basketball roster

Regina duo, Garrett Ostepchuk and Nik Goncin, were announced to the senior men’s national wheelchair basketball roster for the IWBF Repechage Tournament from April 12-15 in Antibes, France.

The tournament will act as the final qualifier for those teams still looking to secure a spot at the 2024 Paris Paralympics. The top four finishers will claim a berth and Canada hopes to be one of them.

Team Canada will compete in Group A against France, Netherlands and Iran.

Six Saskatchewan Para swimmers to attend fourth stop of World Series

Ali Diehl of Prince Albert, Nikita Ens of Meadow Lake, and Leo Zheng of Regina will be joined by Saskatoon’s Hannah Ouellette and Shelby Newkirk at the 2024 Citi World Para Swimming World Series, from April 11-13, in Indianapolis.

Myriam Soliman, who hails from Quebec but trains out of Saskatoon is set to attend the Series as well.

Following the Series in Indianapolis, the next stop will take place in Singapore.

Clark joins Team Canada at 2024 IIHF Women’s World Championship

Emily Clark, who hails from Saskatoon is competing with Team Canada at the 2024 IIHF Women’s World Championship from April 3-14 in Utica, New York.

Canada opened the tournament with a 4-1 victory over Finland and then posted back-to-back shutout wins of 3-0 against Switzerland and 5-0 against Switzerland. The team wrapped up round robin play on Tuesday, falling 1-0 to the United States in overtime.

Quarterfinals are set for April 11, with the matchups still to be decided.

Canada is ranked second in Group A with 10 points.

Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame 2024 inductees

On Tuesday, April 9, three athletes, two teams and two builders were inducted into the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame.

Among those named in the 2024 Induction Class were individuals with connections to CSCS:
