Santiago 2023 Team Canada Updates – November 1st

Canada holds its place as third in the medal standings, with 109 medals, 35 of which are gold.  

Blaire McDowell, Women’s Water Polo 

Blaire McDowell, a Regina local, helped Canada to another dominating 32-7 win over Mexico on Wednesday morning.  

With the victory, Canada finishes as the top team in women’s Group A action with a 3-0 record which led to them qualifying for Thursday’s quarterfinals against Chile. 

Brody McKnight, Men’s Water Polo 

Regina’s Brody McKnight continues the winning streak with Canada’s men’s team in Group B, claiming a 14 – 7 win over Argentina on Wednesday and top spot in the group rankings with an undefeated 3-0 record. 

Canada has earned their place in Thursday’s quarterfinal, with their opponent to be determined later Wednesday. 

Kenzie Priddell & Sydney Carroll, Artistic Swimming  

Saskatoon swimmers, Kenzie Priddell and Sydney Carroll competed in their first Technical Routine with Team Canada on Tuesday evening.  

Canada placed third, with a 233.8008 score. Priddell and Carroll will compete in the team’s Free Routine, Thursday.   

Tristian Moran, Archery, Individual Compound Bow 

Prince Albert’s Tristian Spicer-Moran represented Canada three times on Wednesday, first in the morning, placing 6th with 1389 points in men’s Team Compound event and 16th with 689 points in the men’s Individual Compound event. In the afternoon, Canada was edged to 158 – 153 in a loss against El Salvador in the men’s Team Compound quarterfinal event.  

Spicer-Moran will look ahead to the men’s Individual Compound 1/8 Elimination Round against the United Sates on Thursday.
