Crozon, Team Canada finish second at FIBA 3×3 final

Humboldt’s Paige Crozon and her Team Canada 3×3 basketball teammates came up just short of capturing the title at the FIBA Women’s Series Final in Bucharest, Romania, losing 18-14 to Germany in the final.

Canada went undefeated in pool play, winning 19-8 against Russia, 19-16 against Romania and 21-11 against Germany. They went on to win 21-9 against the Netherlands in the semi-final to claim their spot in the championship game.

Crozon had 25 points between the five games.

Two Saskatchewan wrestlers make national team

Saskatoon’s Natasha Fox and Regina’s Kayla Bednarcik will be traveling to Oslo, Norway with 13 of their Canadian teammates for the Senior World Wrestling Championship Oct. 2-10, following trials in Saskatoon.

Fox, of the Saskatoon Wrestling Club, will be competing in the women’s 55-kilogram event, while Bednarcik, of the Cat-town Wrestling Club, will represent Canada in the women’s 72-kg category.

Multiple Saskatchewan medals at racquetball championships

Saskatchewan athletes picked up a total of six medals and one of every colour during the racquetball National Open Division Championships in Quebec September 16-19.

Christine Keay and Cassie Prentice teamed up to claim gold in the women’s doubles events, with Keay also winning silver and Cassie finishing seventh in the women’s singles.

On the men’s side, Lee Connell and Tanner Prentice combined for a bronze in the men’s doubles, while Connell added another bronze and Tanner finished sixth in the men’s singles.
