Garchinski, McGregor selected to 2025 Canada Games Women in Coaching Apprenticeship Program 

Prince Albert’s Madison Garchinski (softball) and Saskatoon’s Taylor McGregor (athletics) were selected by Saskatchewan to attend the 2025 Canada Games in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, as part of the 2025 Canada Games Women in Coaching Apprenticeship Program. 

Alongside 24 other coaches, Garchinski and McGregor will attend the Games in apprenticeship roles and will have direct involvement in the preparation and competition. In addition, the pair will receive support from an identified mentor coach throughout the duration of the Games. 

The purpose of the Program is to provide female coaches with practical and integrated major national multi-sport game experience.

Sutherland breaks Canadian record at NCAA outdoor track and field championships 

Borden local, Savannah Sutherland broke a Canadian record in the 400-metre hurdles event at the NCAA outdoor track and field championships, which took place June 5-8 in Oregon. 

Sutherland finished second in the event with the recording-breaking time of 53.26 seconds. She will now look ahead to the 2024 Bell Olympic and Paralympic Trials commencing on June 27 in Montreal.

Four Saskatchewan individuals selected to represent Canada at Olympics 

Regina’s Kenzie Priddell and Saskatoon’s Sydney Carroll were named to Canada’s artistic swim team for the Paris Olympic Games.  

Priddell made her first appearance at Tokyo 2020 as an alternate but will be attending Paris 2024 as part of the starting lineup and as co-captain of the team. Carroll will be making her Olympic debut as the team’s alternate. 

Humbolt’s Paige Crozon will also be making her Olympic debut as part of Canada’s first 3×3 basketball team to compete in the Games. Crozon will be joined by Katherine and Michelle Plouffe, as well as Kacie Bosch in Paris after they finished in third place at the last-chance qualifier in May. 

Attending the Games as part of Mission Staff is Lisa Hoffart of Regina, who will serve as one of two Mental Health Practitioners for Team Canada.
