Ens ends up on podium in Portugal
Nikita Ens is leaving Portugal with a silver medal, after the Meadow Lake, Sask. product finished second in the women’s 200-metre freestyle S3 at the 2022 World Para Swimming Championships in Portugal with a time of 4:51.75.
“It feels pretty awesome. I’m so proud to represent Canada and bring home a medal. My 200 free went really well. It’s kind of nice to settle into a rhythm and just kind of push on that stroke.”
Ens said, in an interview with Swimming Canada.
Ens, who set a Canadian record earlier in the event with a time of 1:08.70 in the women’s 50-metre backstroke S3, joined fellow Saskatchewan swimmer Shelby Newkirk as podium finishers at the event after her silver medal after Newkirk won a gold medal in the women’s 100-metre backstroke S6.
Crozon is Belgium bound
Humboldt’s Paige Crozon is representing Canada once again, as is a part of Team Canada’s for the the FIBA 3×3 World Cup 2022 in Antwerp, Belgium, which got underway today.
Crozon is the top-ranked 3×3 player in the country and is a veteran on the international stage, after previously representing Canada at a number of different events, including the FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series Bucharest Final 2021, where she won a silver medal.
Canada opened up the event with wins over Chile and Isreal.
Pair of Priddell, Carroll to represent Canada
Regina’s Kenzie Priddell and Saskatoon’s Sydney Carroll are both in the pool donning the red and white, after Canada Artistic Swimming unveiled their team for the CAS World Aquatic Championships.
The event is taking place from June 17-25 in Budapest, Hungary.
Chartrand, Lalor to suit up for Canada
Weyburn’s Jorde Chartrand and Kelsey Lalor, who spent time with the University of Saskatchewan Huskies women’s basketball team, were both named to the Canadian Women’s National Softball Team that will be competing at the 2022 Celebration Tour and Canada Cup International Softball Championship.
Lalor transferred from Saskatchewan to Boise State to play baseball for the 2019 season and went onto play three seasons for the Broncos.
Lalor was also recently named to the National Team roster that will travel to Birmingham, Alabama for the 2022 World Games this July.
