Stewart, Tarasoff top of Junior Elite National Championships podium

The 2024 Speedo Junior Elite National Championships concluded after taking place from July 4-7 in Saskatoon, with two Saskatchewan divers achieving multiple podium results.

Lila Stewart, who hails from Regina, broke a championship record in the women’s 3-metre dive event, scoring a total of 540.15 points to earn the gold medal. She also finished third in the women’s Group A 1-m event with a score of 421.40 points.

Meanwhile, Saskatoon’s Kash Tarasoff claimed gold after diving to reach a total of 501.25 points in the men’s 10-m Group B event. That goes along with his silver medals in the Group B men’s 3-m (432.10 points) and 1-m (410.40 points) events

Mullin makes Canada’s U20 Pan-American Championship roster

Sierra Mullin, of Saskatoon, was named alongside 19 other wrestlers to represent Canada at the 2024 U20 Pan-American Championships on July 11-13, in Lima, Peru. 

Mullin, who will compete in the women’s 53-kilogram weight class, will gain valuable international experience and will get the chance to prepare for the U20 World Championships, Sept. 2-8 in Pontevedra, Spain.

Laskowski to attend WBSC Men’s Softball World Cup

Warman’s Justin Laskowski was named to Team Canada’s roster for the 2024 WBSC Men’s Softball World Cup Group Stage B, taking place from July 10-14 in Prince Albert.

Canada, who is ranked third in the WBSC World Cup rankings, will compete in Group B with Hong Kong, China, Argentina, New Zealand, Israel, and Singapore.

Canada is set to compete against Hong Kong first.

Melnychuk, Team Canada named Champion at Softball Canada Cup

Saskatoon-born Brook Melnychuk joined Team Canada at the Canada Cup Softball Championship from June 28-July 7 in Surrey, B.C.

After going 7-7 in round robin action, Canada qualified for the gold medal game against TC Colorado, where they dominated 7-0 to take gold and the Championship title.

50 days until the Paralympic Games begin in Paris

Today officially marks 50 days until the Paralympic Games commence and to celebrate the countdown, the Canadian Paralympic Committee launched the “IGNITE the Lights Across Canada”, campaign.

Tuesday nigh, at sunset, four locations in Saskatchewan, along with numerous other Canadian landmarks will dazzle in coloured lights.
