Zablocki named to the 2024 IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship roster

Prince Albert’s Stryker Zablocki was named to the 2024 IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship team to represent Canada’s hockey team and is set to play from January 6-14, 2024, in Zug, Switzerland.

Zablocki will join Canada’s 22 other players and will compete in Group A against Czechia, Finland and Germany. Canada’s opening game is against Germany on January 6.

Stewart, Wiens find podium at diving nationals, qualify for Worlds

Regina’s Lila Stewart and Pike Lake’s Rylan Wiens will be returning home with some new hardware from the Senior National Diving Championships that were held Dec.15-17 in Winnipeg.

Competing at her first national championships on Friday, Stewart earned 256.20 points in the women’s 1-metre event and placed second on the podium with silver

Meanwhile, Wiens also claimed silver with a 472.60-point performance while competing in the men’s 10-m platform event on Sunday.

The second-place finishes for Stewart and Wiens means both Saskatchewan athletes have qualified to represent Canada at the World Championships Feb. 2-10 in Doha, Qatar. Stewart will compete in the 1-m event, while Wiens will compete in both the individual 10-m event as well as the synchronized 10-m event with partner Nathan Zsombor-Murray, who took gold at nationals.

Metheral earns bronze at 37th FIG Trampoline Gymnastics World Championships

Hannah Metheral from Regina attended the 37th FIG Trampoline Gymnastics World Championships from November 9-12 in Birmingham.

Metheral competed in the double-mini qualifier and finished with a 48.300 total, earning a spot in the finals. Team Canada and Metheral competed in team finals and received a personal score of 25.100. With the team’s total points of 10, Canada placed third overall, earning bronze.
