Dr. Megan Dash has joined Canadian Sport Centre Saskatchewan (CSCS) as the organization’s Chief Medical Officer.
In her role, Dash will support the Centre’s decentralized training model, as well as Saskatchewan’s Sport Canada Athlete Assistance Program carded athletes and those athletes competing on a national sport team at the senior level but who are not yet carded. The CSCS’ model is a virtual centre with training and sport medicine partners across the province.
“The programs and services we offer through CSCS endeavour to holistically support our athletes as they strive to represent Canada at the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Dr. Dash joining our team enables us to further support the mental and physical needs of those who we are working with,” said Kia Schollar, High Performance Lead with CSCS.
“Having a chief medical officer working with the CSCS aligns with our commitment to ensuring a safe, healthy sport environment is available for all of our athletes,” she added.
Born and raised in Saskatchewan, Dash grew up participating in gymnastics and was a member of the Canadian national team. She attended the University of Saskatchewan where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Anatomy and Cell Biology and then attended medical school where she was awarded the Ernest McBrien Award in family medicine.
Continuing in her career, Dash created and was the first to complete the sport medicine enhanced skills fellowship in Regina. She has also completed her exam to become CASEM certified in Canada.
“As a former national team athlete and now a sports medicine physician, I am extremely honoured to be working with this prestigious organization,” said Dash. “I am excited to be involved and help support these competitors on their athletic journey!”
While working with Canadian Sport Centre Saskatchewan, Dash will continue her family practice at Victoria East Medical Clinic in Regina as well as her work as team physician for Complete MMA, Advanced Wrestling, Gymnastics Saskatchewan and many Regina hockey teams.
