Schenn, Canada strong start at 2025 IIHF World Championship
Saskatoon-born forward, Brayden Schenn has joined Team Canada in their strong start at the 2025 IIHF World Championship in Stockholm, Sweden and Herning, Denmark.
Preliminary action began May 9 with Canada taking the victory 4-0 over Slovenia before their second win, 7-1 over Latvia.
The Championship will wrap May 25, with the top teams facing off for gold.

Laskiwski, Major named to Team Canada
From Aug. 7-17, the 2025 World Games are set to take place in Chengdu, China with Delisle’s Max Major and Warman’s Justin Laskowski donning the maple leaf on Canada’s softball team
The Saskatchewan pair were announced alongside 13 others by Softball Canada and will play in Group B against Australia, United States and Singapore.
Crozon’s Half Court Hoops: No Barriers. Just Ball. initiative receives grant
Ten Olympian-led projects were announced by the Canadian Olympic Committee as recipients of the OLY Canada Legacy Grant. Among those funded is Humboldt’s Paige Crozon and her Half Court Hoops: No Barriers. Just Ball. initiative.
Crozon’s goal with her program is to help make basketball accessible to youth in rural, Indigenous and economically disadvantaged communities.

Moose Jaw Speed Skating Club receives grant
Kiwanis Speed Skating Club of Moose Jaw received grant funding from the Intact Insurance Club Excellence Award to help support grassroot development initiatives in the local community.
Moose Jaw was named as one of four finalists.
